Hello Friends,
Peace be with you!
We all know what it’s like when life unfolds in ways we don’t expect or desire—an illness, a job loss, a disappointment, a deep suffering. When this happens the spiritual life can become a different place, an unknown terrain. How do we speak to our God when we feel unfamiliar with the life we inhabit? How do we communicate with our Lord when words fall short or feel utterly insufficient?
We look at the cross and offer what we can—a breath, a beat of the heart, a gaze toward heaven. Our Lord knows because he has been there, too. We offer what we can.
If your current season of life is a springtime, thanks be to God and what a gift. Offer your strong prayers for someone whose season of life looks more like winter. The good we do matters for and uplifts the whole Body.
We are here together and our God is with us in it all.
Christ’s Peace,
Caitlan
Sometimes
Sometimes lighting a candle is the only prayer we can offer.
Sometimes the steam rising from a mug of hot tea like incense is the only prayer we can offer.
Sometimes the silence that fills the space around us is the only prayer we can offer.
Sometimes another’s prayer for us is the only prayer we can offer.
Sometimes sitting with the sun streaming through the window and onto our skin is the only prayer we can offer.
Sometimes tucking a rosary into the palm of our hand is the only prayer we can offer.
Take it, Lord.
You know, Lord.
You know what it’s like when a heaved breath is the only prayer you have to offer.
We offer it, Lord.
